As part of my practice, I have been exploring the psychological and social implications, and long-standing effects of conflict on individuals and communities. By merging contemporary arts practice, craft techniques, research and dialogue with experts, my work investigates and subverts associated making techniques, teasing out the relationship and personal narratives between artefact, maker and viewer. By re positioning and transforming objects, that posses a highly symbolic quality and are central to the visual construction of a public narrative, my work proposes a form of symbolic reparation, actively striving to broaden dialogues, acknowledge and commemorate hidden or under-exposed histories.
